An Introduction to Content Marketing

We have a lot of new faces around the Texoma Bride Guide, so I’d like to take a brief moment to introduce this content and its purpose. We send an email on (or around) the first of each month with small business marketing tips and tricks. Our parent company is an event production and marketing agency based in Sherman, and we are passionate about helping companies transform the way they are communicating with their audiences through content marketing. Our purpose with this content is to leave you with the right strategies, tools, and tactics to be successful.

We’re starting 2020 off with a bang and a series of emails on Content Marketing.

What is content marketing?

Content marketing is the foundation of any digital marketing strategy. Content marketing is the art of providing relevant, useful content to your customers without selling or interrupting them. Instead of pitching your products or services you are delivering helpful resources that make your customers feel more informed before they buy.

Nobody really wants to talk to a salesperson (*cough* YOU *cough*). Think about your own personal experiences and preferences. Then think about today’s brides and their preferences. Don’t forget, as we get older, they get younger!

Some industries are highly competitive, and the wedding industry is especially challenging. Our turnover rate for new customers is very quick. We have a very short amount of time to get in front of our customers and convince them that we’re the expert they’re looking for. Before we know it, we’ve got a brand new group of brides and we have to start all over again.

The importance of content

Today’s relationships are not created with people, but with information. Today’s customer is over half-way through their journey before they talk with any salesperson. And 67% of that journey is completed through digital channels. We’re going online, we’re asking questions, we’re doing research.

Marketing used to be in charge of awareness- we are company X, get to know us, buy from us. But today’s companies are breaking down these traditional barriers. Consumers are breaking down traditional boundaries and doing research online. This changes the customer journey by making marketing in charge of not only awareness, but it is also informing the customer at the consideration phase- the part of the journey in charge of educating potential customers and providing them with resources so they feel informed and empowered.

1) be where they are
2) get them to know, like, and trust you
3) understand their pain points and how your business can solve it better than your competition
